We know the waiting game is not a fun one! While we do not have information on the status of adoption applications while private owners may still be reviewing them; Rehome will automatically notify you if the private owner declines your application at any time. You will also be notified if the pet is adopted or removed from Adopt a Pet for any other reason.
To confirm that your application was successfully submitted you can log into your user account here using the login button at the top right hand corner of the page, and once logged in use the drop down menu to select "Favorites & Inquiries". If your application was submitted successfully you will see the pet you applied to under "Pet Inquiries".
Rehome immediately notifies owners via email and their Rehome Dashboard when new applications are waiting for review! The decision of who adopts a pet listed through Rehome by Adopt a Pet is completely up to that pet's private owner.
Rehome does ask private owners to respond to all adoption applicants within 72 hours if possible. However, some families are in difficult situations. Please give private owners up to 14 days to respond and keep in mind, the average response time is 7-10 days. While you await a response, we recommend you continue to look, and apply for other pets.
Depending on the private owner’s decision:
- If they would like to move forward with you, they will contact you via phone or email.
- If they decide to move forward with another applicant, you will not hear from the owner directly, you’ll receive an automatic email notification from Rehome.
If it's been more than 14 days since you applied and you haven’t received a notification or heard from the private owner, please consider looking for a different pet.
Happy Adopting!
