Prior to giving you the pet, but after the Meet & Greet, the private owner should finalize the adoption within their Rehome account by clicking "Finalize Adoption" within your application. That triggers automatic emails with these subject lines:
"Your adoption is officially complete!" (sent to you, the adopter)
"Your pet's rehoming is complete." (sent to the private owner)
In each email is a link so you both can download a Transfer of Ownership Form to complete and exchange (both parties should retain a signed copy), when you meet the private owner to pick up your new pet.
If the private owner forgot to finalize your adoption application and you were already given the pet, call and/or email them with a reminder to log in to their Rehome account and click "Finalize Adoption" on your application.
